Dr. Bruce King named Dean of Southeastern-McCurtain County branch campus

Dr. Bruce King named Dean of Southeastern-McCurtain County branch campus Press Release Date: 6-1-2011 DURANT, Okla. — Dr. Bruce King has been named Dean of the Southeastern Oklahoma State University-McCurtain County Campus. King joined Southeastern in 1998 as an academic advisor and coordinator at the E.T. Dunlap Higher Education Center (now the McCurtain County branch campus). Since 2005, he has assisted Dr. Douglas McMillan, Southeastern Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs, with the management of the McCurtain County Campus as the transition was made from a higher education center to a branch campus. He has served as Associate Dean at the branch campus since 2009. “The McCurtain County branch campus continues to expand and we will be diligent in looking at adding programs in the future,” said Southeastern president Larry Minks. “Our goal is to continue to meet the needs of the students and the community in McCurtain County. The appointment of Dr. King is another step as the branch campus evolves. He has both the background and experience to lead the branch campus.” King earned his Bachelor of Arts in English Education and his Master of Education in secondary Education at East Central University, and completed his requirements for a doctorate from Texas A&M University-Commerce in Higher Education, Curriculum and Instruction. He has also done post-graduate work at the University of Oklahoma. King also has experience in the public schools, having taught English and Psychology at Broken Bow High School from 1991-98.
